![]() ![]() This trailer only uses half of the ProPower OnBoard generator as it is a 30 amp unit. ![]() Here is a video showing one owners experience with an Airstream Basecamp 20X. My plan is to remove the propane fired components and tanks making the trailer all electric. The F-150 has the capacity to service this trailer with two AC units via a 50 amp connection. In my case I am downsizing from my Class A to hybrid F-150 and Airstream GlobeTrotter FB25 TB. With the chip shortage and the high demand from areas with power interruptions it is really hard to find a F-150 Hybrid at your local Ford dealer. As the folks in Texas and California have discovered, the F-150 with ProPower OnBoard will power the basic functions of an entire house in the event of a loss of power. Rather than hauling around a TOAD with a Class A you have a nice high end F-150 to drive when you drop a trailer at your destination.īut there is more. Now you can tow high end trailer with the full utility of a Class A. Clearly the mix between trailers and class A motorhomes may change. So will this new innovation change the RV industry. It will run through a full tank of gas in 32 hours operating the generator. The truck is rated to run continuously in this mode while locked and unattended. The gasoline engine runs between a low idle of 800 RPM and 1,200 RPM while topping off the hybrid battery. The system will toggle the gasoline engine on and off to keep the battery topped. You can configure the generator to run continually with the truck locked. The whole system is completely automated through a touch screen in the cab. The truck gasoline engine has a large alternator that keeps the hybrid battery topped off. This generator is driven from the hybrid battery through an inverter. It is a Platinum model with most every option available including a revolutionary new innovation that may fundamentally change the RV industry: an onboard 7.2kw generator. The power equipment package 101A High which adds power windows, mirrors, locks and other features is also required.I just took delivery of a 2021 Ford F-150 Hybrid. The hybrid motor is required because it uses a 48-volt battery system capable of putting out enough power without making the gasoline engine struggle. The hybrid motor is available on every trim but needs the extra floor space to accompany the hybrid’s batteries. However a customer would have to get the SuperCrew cab style in order to purchase the generator.īuyers also have to get the 3.5L PowerBoost hybrid six-cylinder powertrain in order to receive the large generator. The 7.2kW onboard generator is available on all trims, the cheapest being the XL. However the option for the most powerful generator can’t be chosen unless other options are added.Īfter creating different configurations on Ford’s “Build & Price” page the least expensive F-150 with the largest generator option has a MSRP of $44,515 using the Addison, Texas ZIP code.Īt this price the F-150 is missing some things truck buyers won’t leave the lot without like four-wheel drive or a bed liner. With four in-bed 120V outlets and one 240V outlet, the truck offers a run time of up to 32 hours on a single tank of gas. According to Ford, the truck can practically power a mobile metal shop with a plasma cutter, welder, air compressor, and more. Recent winter weather in Texas has peaked interest in the built-in generator available on the all-new F-150. The 7.2 kW generator costs 750 and promises an impressive level of capability. Ever wondered how much you’d have to spend on the 2021 Ford F-150 to get the 7.2kW onboard generator?
